On May 20, the New Jersey Building Materials Dealers Association (NJBMDA), NRLA’s New Jersey-based affiliate, joined a meet and greet with New Jersey State Senate President, Nicholas Scutari (D-22), in Kenilworth, N.J., at Galloping Hills Golf Course. Local businesses attended the reception.
TJ Shaheen, Executive Vice President of Builders’ General Supply, founded in Cranford, N.J. (1931) in Union County, was proud to be in attendance, afforded by their NJBMDA state lobbyist, Scot Mackey of MBI-Gluckshaw, based out of Trenton, N.J.

“It was an honor to meet Senate President Scutari. As President of the NJBMDA, we look forward to advocating with him on behalf of the best interests of all of our New Jersey LBM family-owned and operated businesses,” Shaheen reflected. “Being able to share my family’s stories about our company’s founding here in Union County more than 93 years ago…it’s a powerful story. And many other family owners of New Jersey building retail suppliers have similar stories. We are the densest state in the union. New Jersey will always have a need to build, refresh, and renew. That will never go away.”
Senate President Scutari thanked everyone for coming, and stated, “It is always great to spend time with our business leaders who employ so many residents of New Jersey and have invested in our communities. Especially businesses like Builders General which has been operating in the State for multiple generations.”
On Thursday, June 13, the NJBMDA will hold its state lobby day in Trenton, New Jersey. We’re deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our members whose generous donations to the BMDGG PAC make our legislative endeavors possible.
