After more than four decades of exceptional leadership and dedication, Vern Dando, vice president of panels, special woods and logistics will be retiring from LMC. Throughout his remarkable tenure, he has been a driving force behind the company’s growth, leaving an indelible mark on the organization’s success and shaping its future trajectory.
Vern joined LMC then known as ELMCO, in December 1979 as a plywood assistant. He was appointed acting plywood department manager in June 1982 and officially promoted to the role later that year in December. In December 1984, Vern advanced to purchasing manager, panel products, and in August 1998, he was named vice president of panels and specialty wood products. In 2008, logistics was added to his title, reflecting the significant growth of that function under Vern’s leadership.

Through these numerous leadership roles, Vern has exemplified unwavering commitment, strategic vision, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. His contributions have been instrumental in establishing LMC as an industry leader, and his legacy will continue to influence the company for years to come.
As Vern transitions into retirement, LMC is pleased to announce that his successor will be Jim McMenamin, a highly respected leader within the organization. Jim began his career at The Home Depot before joining LMC in July 1999 as a buyer in western commodity lumber. He was promoted to EWL department manager in September 2013, and in April 2016, he was named purchasing manager of East/West commodity lumber. Jim brings a wealth of experience, deep industry knowledge, and a strong track record of leadership to his new role. The leadership team and board of directors are confident that under Jim’s guidance, the panels and specialty wood division will continue to thrive and reach new heights.
“We are deeply grateful for Vern’s extraordinary contributions over the past 40-plus years,” said Sean Tighe “His legacy will be felt for many years to come, and we’re excited to have Jim step into this leadership role. His expertise and commitment ensure a seamless transition and a bright future for the division.”
Vern Dando expressed his gratitude, saying, “It has been a privilege to be part of LMC for so many years. I am confident that Jim’s leadership will carry the division forward with great success.”
