Benjamin Obdyke, a leading supplier of high-performance building envelope products, has hired two new Sales Associates: Ryan Parkes, serving all of Washington state, and Reed Powell, serving all of Virginia outside of the D.C. metro area. As Sales Associates, Parkes and Powell will nurture relationships with distributors, dealers, architects, and contractors, providing sales support, product knowledge, and building science education.

Ryan Parkes has more than five years of sales and marketing experience, most recently serving as a sales associate with Lansing Building Products in Bothell, Washington, where he developed an intimate knowledge of building envelope products. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.

“I’m excited to join Benjamin Obdyke because these are products I already truly believe in,” Parkes said. “I like that we are building-science forward—I won’t be a salesperson who just shows up with lunch and samples, but instead will be a technical resource for our customers.”

This approach will serve Parkes particularly well in his region. “Western Washington’s notoriously rainy climate requires innovative products and systems-focused solutions, and Ryan knows how Benjamin Obdyke can help pros address complex challenges,” said Benjamin Buslach, district sales manager for Benjamin Obdyke. “He understands that being a technical resource is key — the sale will follow.”

Prior to joining Benjamin Obdyke, Reed Powell was an inside salesperson at BlueLinx, experiencing first-hand how products are used at each level of the supply chain and the unique needs of each type of customer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond.

“Reed is an expert at relationship-building and prides himself on being available when and where customers need us,” said Bill Warfield, regional sales manager for Benjamin Obdyke. “Those attributes will be crucial as we continue to expand our customer base throughout Virginia.”

“I’m looking forward to an outside sales role because I want to be an integral part of what’s been built and what’s being built,” Powell said. “I’m passionate about the work and about helping our customers in any way they need to ensure they can Build Better.”
