Hamilton Building Supply is proud to announce that it has earned its first ever Top Workplace recognition throughout New Jersey for 2025, awarded by NJ.com. The recognition for the family owned, independent lumber and building materials dealer, was achieved through a voluntary third party survey taken by most of the 82 employees within the company.
Employees scored the company on various criteria, measuring their engagement with the company’s growth strategy, how well employees were closely aligned with their roles and job expectations, how deeply employees felt respected and supported by peers and managers and much more. In each category, the company exceeded benchmark scores from their peers and averaged 91% in the categories or better.
“When you encourage your employees to participate in a third party survey of this magnitude, you have to be ready for some hard truths”, said John Perna, president and CEO of Hamilton Building Supply. “We always thought we were building a strong and collaborative culture, but you don’t know what you have until employees offer their candid feedback in detail to a group outside of our organization”.
Meredith Baszkiewicz, Hamilton Building Supply’s HR manager, led the effort in getting NJ.com to consider surveying the company. “Even though it was our first year participating in the statewide survey, I felt we had a really good chance of earning high scores because of how engaged our employees have become”, claimed Baszkiewicz. “When the results came back and we outperformed all the benchmark metrics compared to other companies, we were ecstatic and validated in our mission to build a best in class culture in the lumber and building materials industry”.
