ELIGIBILITY:

Sandy Lavitt was the owner of Super Enterprises Inc., the Melville-based distributor of Marvin Windows and Doors, with locations in Long Island, Cranbury, NJ, and Atlanta, GA. Sandy joined the company in 1965 and soon after, he married the owner’s daughter, Arlene. He started in the warehouse, quickly moving to inside sales, and worked his way up through the company. In 1990, he purchased the company from his father-in-law and became President.

Throughout the years, Sandy proved his dedication to the company and its success, as well as the development of the building material industry. He served on the Board of Directors of several organizations, including the National Sash and Door Jobbers Association (NSDJA) and the Long Island Lumber Association (LILA), which honored Sandy with the “Lumber Person of the Year” award in 1996. Sandy was elected Chairman of the NSDJA, but sadly, he passed away the day before he was to assume this prestigious position. Sandy was recognized in the business community for his high morals, ethical business practices, and tireless dedication to helping others.
