Simpson Strong-Tie, a leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, has launched the SABR code-listed cast-in-place anchor bolt featuring a one-piece sweep design that maximizes its position for increased tension capacity. The SABR anchor bolt works with all Simpson Strong-Tie holdowns, including the innovative new HDUE line of holdowns, providing both strength and specification simplicity.
“Our recently introduced HDUE holdowns are engineered to accommodate the increasing design demands of today’s homes—and the new SABR anchor bolt provides enhanced steel strength to meet those higher load capacities,” said Bryan Wert, director of product development for Simpson Strong-Tie Connectors and Lateral Systems.
The SABR comes in five anchor diameters, each designed with a 6″ threaded section that accommodates all holdowns when installed on a 2x or 3x sill plate. A single anchor solution for all foundation types, SABR comes in one length for each diameter, simplifying specification, ordering and inventory.
“The new SABR anchors not only provide higher strength for today’s design demands, they’re versatile and efficient, offering a singular solution to meet the needs of all our holdowns,” Wert said. “Going on diameter alone, engineers and contractors can confidently choose the right anchor for any required condition.”
To simplify product specification, the SABR replaces both the SB and SSTB anchor bolts; in most common applications, SABR has significantly higher loads than those products. Its one-piece, hot-forged design eliminates potential loss of components. The SABR anchor bolt is also available with hot-dip galvanization for additional corrosion resistance.
