The New Jersey Building Materials Dealers Association (NJBMDA) Chair, Doug Helmecy, offered a hearty welcome during its 2023 NJBMDA Annual Meeting at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater, N.J. “It has been a great honor to serve as your chair this past year, and I look forward to serving the association and our members for the coming year,” stated Helmecy. He also expressed gratitude to the current Board.

Helmecy then introduced NRLA Chair Nick Kuiken, Kuiken Bros., a family-owned business established in 1912 with 11 locations in New Jersey and New York. Kuiken is part of the 4th generation of family members managing the business, and there is a promising future for the 5th generation, with his son as part of the Kuiken Bros. staff. As a longtime member of the NRLA, Kuiken believes in the importance of the NRLA’s legislative and educational services and was a key member helping with the NJBMDA and NRLA affiliation.

The highlight of the meeting was a presentation given by NAHB Senior Economist David Logan on the U.S. Economy and Housing Outlook, which covered housing demand, supply-side issues home builders are currently facing, and the NAHB’s forecast for single-family and multifamily housing.

NJBMDA would like to express its gratitude to the 2023 sponsors for their generosity, which enables the organization to further assist its fellow independent retail lumber dealer members.
