Maine Energy Efficiency Law Clarification

As of January 1, 2023, Maine’s law regarding appliances and product efficiency standards was changed. As of January 1, any products in certain categories offered for sale in Maine that were manufactured after January 1, 2023, have to meet increased efficiency standards as set forth in the law.

There has been some confusion over how this law impacts current stock of items, including plumbing fixtures and fittings. This law does NOT impact any current stock members have for products manufactured prior to January 1 of this year. This means that any items you had in stock as of January 1, 2023, you can still sell, but anything you buy to stock that is manufactured after January 1, 2023 must meet the standards in the new law.
