The Eastern New York Lumber Dealers Association is honored to present the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award to David W. Moore, recognizing a career marked by exceptional leadership, industry service, and community involvement.
A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill and Cornell University, David joined Wiley Brothers, Inc. in Schaghticoke, N.Y., in 1976. Over the next 45 years, he advanced through nearly every role within the company before becoming president and part owner in 2001. Under his leadership, Wiley Brothers continued its tradition of serving customers and supporting the local community until the business was sold in 2021.
David has been a dedicated volunteer leader within the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA) for more than three decades. He has served on the Lumber and Building Material Dealers Foundation (LBMDF) since 1992, chaired the LBMDF Education Committee, served on the LBMDF Disaster Assistance Committe, served on the NRLA Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and was Chair of the NRLA in 2010–2011. He also contributed many years of service to New York Safety Group #531.
His commitment to the industry has earned numerous honors, including ENYLDA Lumber Person of the Year in 2001, the Paul S. Collier Award in 2016, and the NYLE Redwood Award in 2016.
Beyond the industry, David has devoted countless hours to community service through the Hoosic Valley School Board, Rensselaer County Cooperative Extension, the Tri-County Holstein Club, Christ United Methodist Church, and the Rensselaer County Agricultural and Horticultural Society, where he continues to serve today. In 2025, he was recognized with the New York State Fair Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
Known for his quiet intelligence, sound judgment, sharp wit, and genuine kindness, David has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, friends, and community members alike. ENYLDA proudly recognizes his lifetime of contributions to the lumber and building materials industry with this well-deserved honor.
