Tim Wiley’s career in the lumber industry began in 1978 when his uncle, Abbott Wiley, invited him to join the family business, Wiley Brothers. What began as an opportunity became a career spanning more than four decades, marked by exceptional leadership, industry service, and a deep commitment to his community.
Tim has been a dedicated supporter of the ENYLDA, serving on its Board of Directors since 1989, and as President from 2008 to 2010. During his presidency, he personally visited every member of the lumberyard to promote the value ENYLDA and the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA), organizations he has long championed.
Committed to investing in the future of the industry, Tim helped establish the Wiley Brothers Scholarship at Hudson Valley Community College’s Construction Management Program in honor of his uncle, Abbott Wiley, a founding supporter of the college. He has always believed that giving young people opportunities is one of the best ways to strengthen the future of the lumber industry.
Tim’s dedication extends well beyond the workplace. Under his leadership, Wiley Brothers had supported more than 90 local organizations and charitable causes, reflecting his lifelong belief in giving back to the community. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Frame Builders Association and remains active in several local organizations.
Raised on the family farm in Johnsonville, N.Y., Tim credits farm life with teaching him the values of hard work, integrity, and family. Those values have guided both his professional success and his personal life.
Today, retirement has allowed Tim to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He begins each day by sharing a cup of coffee with his wife, Kathleen, before heading to his woodworking shop, where he enjoys creating projects in the barn he always dreamed of having. He also finds fulfillment helping family members and neighbors with home improvement projects and has enjoyed traveling with Kathleen to Alaska, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Maine.
Above all, Tim treasures the time he spends with his grandchildren—Ava, Audrey, Bryce, and Mia—who bring him his greatest joy.
Throughout his career and into retirement, Tim has been known for his humility, generosity, and unwavering kindness. His leadership, dedication to the industry, and commitment to serving others have left a lasting impact on countless individuals and organizations.
