Lamont Withdraws Regulations Phasing Out New Gas Vehicles

LDAC Commends Connecticut’s Decision to Reevaluate Proposed Regulations to Ban the Sale of Gasoline and Diesel Vehicles

(Hartford, CT) – The Lumber Dealers Association of Connecticut (LDAC) extends its support and commendation for the recent decision by the Governor to withdraw proposed regulations banning gasoline and diesel vehicle sales by 2035. This significant move acknowledges the need for a balanced approach that considers both environmental goals and the economic vitality of businesses within the Lumber and Building Materials (LBM) industry.

Bob Sanford, Chair of LDAC’s Legislative Committee, commented, “We appreciate Connecticut’s commitment to fostering a regulatory environment that strikes a delicate balance between environmental sustainability and the well-being of our businesses. This decision reflects a thoughtful consideration of the practical needs of industries like ours.”

In a recent press conference, Governor Lamont announced his dedication to redoubling efforts to have this proposal passed by the legislature and on his desk. LDAC recognizes the urgency and importance of addressing environmental concerns while ensuring a supportive regulatory framework for businesses.

Connecticut’s choice to reevaluate and collaborate on a revised plan, coupled with the Governor’s commitment, serves as a positive example for collaboration with stakeholders. LDAC believes that effective policies should harmonize environmental objectives with the preservation of jobs, economic growth, and the unique considerations of the LBM sector.

LDAC remains dedicated to advocating for policies that support sustainable practices while recognizing the importance of maintaining a robust and resilient business environment. “We stand ready to work with the Governor and Members of the legislature to build a sustainable environment while also safeguarding jobs and local businesses, said Bob Sanford
