The 2027 legislative session is rapidly approaching and each one of our NRLA states and territories are focused on having a productive and meaningful 2027 session. The NRLA Legislative Affairs Department is pleased to announce our 2027 Legislative Advocacy Days:

  • Maine: January 27
  • Vermont: March 16
  • Connecticut: March 31
  • Rhode Island: May 6
  • New York: May 12
  • Massachusetts: June 2
  • New Hampshire: June 3

All of our legislative committees are actively working during the legislative “off-season.” Each committee has set up a meeting to focus on upcoming legislative priorities. There are certainly a few issues at the federal level that will be a focus and a potential impact on all our states and territories, but there will also be individual priorities for each state. We applaud each of the legislative committees and their chairs for taking an active role in preparation for this upcoming legislative session.

Two of our legislative committees, Connecticut and Vermont, have already had their legislative priority meetings, and combined they have highlighted over a dozen issues that our team needs to be prepared to address in the coming year. Some of the issues that could impact our industry and have been identified by our committees are:

  • Affordable Housing
  • Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Infrastructure Funding
  • Tax Credits
  • Healthcare & Insurance
  • Employment Opportunities
  • Credit Card Rates & Fees
  • Trade Policies
  • Continuing Education Resources
  • Workforce Development
  • Coalition Building

We are working to finalize the legislative agenda and priorities by the end of November. If you have any issues or ideas, please send them to Kevin Scorsone, NRLA director of legislative & regulatory affairs at kscorsone@nrla.org or call him at 518-880-6376.
