Hancock Lumber recently hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking event for their Oxford Component Manufacturing Facility. Once complete, the 44,000-square-foot Oxford facility will feature advanced automation and the latest technology that will support the production of wall panels, pre-cut and labeled framing packages, stair systems, and more! Construction crews are making incredible progress toward its completion—this week Team Hancock delivered engineered wall panels and floor trusses manufactured at their existing manufacturing facilities in Windham and Fairfield, Maine.

“This is a really exciting milestone,” said Hancock project manager Dan Lauze. “We’re received and will be installing the very products we manufacture every day—built with the precision and quality our customers rely on—to construct the facility that will allow us to produce even more of them. It’s a full-circle moment.”

Other exciting advancements in construction include nearly completed roofing and siding, interior framing, + window installation; over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete placed for the warehouse slab, and various utilities being installed in preparation for opening in early 2027.

In late May, Team Hancock welcomed employees, project partners, builders, and community members to the active jobsite in Oxford for a ceremonial groundbreaking. This is Hancock’s return to the Oxford Hills region, after opening one of its first retail stores in South Paris in 1972 with David Hancock and Leon Truman at the helm. At the time, this was a huge move for the company to expand beyond its homebase of Casco where the entire company’s operations existed. The South Paris store remained open for several decades before the decision to consolidate and move to what is now the current Bridgton lumberyard and kitchen design showroom.

Executive Chairman Kevin Hancock helped host the groundbreaking ceremony and spoke to the significance of the Oxford community, what the state-of-the-art facility means to Hancock Lumber as a strategic way forward, and the company’s long-term commitment to builders.

“This is not a short-term investment,” said Hancock. “This is not a dip-your-toe-in-the-water investment. This is the real deal—real money, real commitment. There’s so much trust in this. We’re trusting our customers first in telling us that this is something worth investing in. Then we’re trusting our sellers and customers and managers to do the work of filling up that plant with orders of products for amazing job sites all over the markets we serve. When we roll, we roll together—this is owners lined up, directors lined up, executives lined up, managers lined up, sellers lined up, customers lined up. When we roll, we roll together—and now we roll.”

After Kevin’s welcome, attendees toured the site, taking a step inside the facility, asking questions, and learning more about what this new investment will provide once complete.
